A boutique brand conceived in Romania

Considerable effort and dedication have been invested in creating a genuine perfume that reflects the maturity of modern society's tastes.

Collaborating with established perfumers from the industry is crucial to consistently achieving unique accords. The creation process of each Miraj perfume begins with an idea, a concept that carries the expression of a specific emotion. Together with the perfumer, we develop this concept, paying special attention to special notes and selecting the highest quality ingredients.

The distinctive character of the new Miraj perfumes is enhanced by a minimalist and refined design, which evokes the simplicity of the containers used by the perfumer in the laboratory, reinterpreting them into a luxury object. A tribute to the perfumer's creation, presented in an honest and transparent manner.

The story of Miraj

The story of Miraj begins in the 1950s when the "Macul Roșu" perfume factory opened in Bucharest. In a relatively short period, it managed to launch countless perfumes that laid the foundation for the later success of what would become Miraj.

In the 1970s, "Macul Roșu" rebranded as Miraj, achieving international success. Bottles like Miss Miraj, Draclee, Tourist, Jubilee, Opera, and many others became synonymous with the small pleasures of life for Romanians.

Miraj also had a cosmetics division, holding the formulas of Ana Aslan, which attracted renowned international personalities to its treatment centers, such as Frank Sinatra, Claudia Cardinale, Ronald Reagan, and many others.

Moreover, in 1989, Miraj rebranded again to Gerovital Cosmetics, and in 2008, Miraj completely transferred the ownership rights of the Gerovital brand to Farmec and ceased operations.

Ten years later, in 2018, the Miraj brand was registered again, and over the following years, it was developed and reimagined as a boutique brand under new management.

Emotions of a memory

Miraj represented for many Romanians one of the few luxury products they had access to. However, for the children of that era, Miraj was more than that—it was the scent of their mother.

A memory, like a kiss on the forehead and a caress, the rustle of an evening dress, the diffuse light of a bedside lamp, and somewhere among the boxes of colored powders, the hairbrush and the scattered jewelry on the dresser in the large bedroom, that mysterious bottle shining.

Fragments of past moments with no particular significance, but which make up the richness of a life. How many such moments are left forgotten in a corner of the mind? But how precious they become when we remember them, when, in an instant, we become children again and watch our parents getting ready for a party with fascination and excitement.

Our perfumers

Stéphanie Bakouche, following her childhood dream, brings an ethos of shaping olfactory dreams through her passion and vast experience.

Luca Maffei, inspired by the charm of raw materials from an early age, blends tradition with innovation, infusing his creations with a deep understanding of the alchemy of aromas.

Paolo Cerizza, rooted in a rich heritage of essential oils, transforms sensations into harmonious perfumes, showcasing his talent, creativity, and passion. Together, they embody the spirit of our brand, combining artistic mastery with a deep connection to the sensory world.

Fabrication

After finalizing the formula, our partners blend oils from around the world to produce the Miraj essences, which are created under the attentive supervision of the perfumer

- either in Milan at Maffei's workshop, where he revived Queen Maria's favorite perfume, Mon Boudoir

- or at Domaine Sainte Blanche in Southern France, where the famous Master Perfumer Edmond Roudnitska set up his laboratory in 1947 and created perfumes such as Diorama, Diorissimo, and Eau Sauvage for Dior, Eau d’Hermès, the first perfume of the Hermès house, or Femme for the house of Rochas.

This is followed by a long and delicate process of maturation and maceration to transform the essences into eau de parfum, with the final production taking place here in Bucharest.
